The director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Israel, Libby Reichman, is planning a trip Down Under. She plans to be in Melbourne from Thursday,
April 28 until Sunday, May 8, and then in Sydney from Sunday, May 8 until Thursday, May 12.

Many wonderful connections have already been created by the Australian community with Big Brothers Big Sisters. Here are just a few examples:

The Australian Ambassador to Israel, Andrea Faulkner, paid a most gracious visit to the Big Brothers Big Sisters Clubhouse in Jerusalem on January 10, 2011. The visit was part of efforts to further ties between the Israeli and Australian branches of the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization.
The Ambassador, who charmed the children and their mentors, laughed and joked with the children in a mixture of English and Hebrew. “It was such a pleasure spending time with such wonderful children and their Big Brothers and Sisters!” she said. The visit was initiated by Paul Israel, Director of the Israel-Australia Chamber of Commerce.  For further information contact Peter Rawlings at pgr@rawlings.com.au or (03) 5975-8333.

Fifty Australian teenagers participating in the Israel by Choice Program of 6-12 months volunteering and touring in Israel, and 15 Israeli “Little Brothers and Sisters” from the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Israel organization, marched together on Purim of this year in the annual Adeloyada parade in Holon. Drumming on makeshift drums and waving Israeli and Australian flags, the Aussie teens and the Israeli kids danced and sang their way down the streets of Holon, cheered on by the thousands of Purim celebrants lining the streets who came to enjoy Israel’s grandest Purim parade.
